Privacy policy

Shuttle HQ runs badminton tournaments: an organiser sets one up, players enter, scorers record matches and spectators follow along. This page says exactly what that involves storing about people. It is deliberately short, because the service deliberately collects little.

Who runs this

Shuttle HQ is run by an individual, not a company. For anything on this page, including a request to delete data, write to kogulan.baskaran@gmail.com.

If you organise a tournament

You can organise without an account at all, using the private links the app gives you. If you choose to sign in, we store:

  • your name and email address, and your profile picture if you signed in with Google;
  • a password, which is stored only as a salted hash and is never readable by us or anyone else;
  • a session record so you stay signed in, kept for up to 60 days.

Signing in with Google gives us your name, email address and profile picture, and nothing else. We do not receive your Google password, your contacts, your files or anything from any other Google service.

If you enter a tournament

When you register through an invite link, the organiser of that tournament receives what you typed: the names of the players entering (and the team name, for a team event), plus your email, phone number and any note you added.

Your email, phone number and note are shown only to that tournament’s organiser. They are never shown on the public tournament pages and are never sent to anyone else.

Player names, match results and scores are public on that tournament’s pages once the draw is published. That is the point of the tournament page, but it is worth knowing before you enter.

Cookies and what is stored in your browser

There is one cookie, and it only exists if you sign in: it keeps you signed in. There are no advertising cookies, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. Nothing here follows you to other sites.

The app also keeps your organiser and scorer links in your browser’s own storage so you do not have to paste them again. That never leaves your device except to prove to the server that you hold the link.

Who else sees it

Nobody. Data is not sold, rented, or shared for advertising. Two suppliers necessarily handle it in order to run the service: Vercel, which hosts the site, and Neon, which hosts the database. If you sign in with Google, Google sees that you signed in to Shuttle HQ. Where the law requires disclosure, we would comply.

How long it is kept

Tournament data stays until the organiser deletes the tournament. Deleting a tournament removes its players, entrants, matches and registrations, including contact details. An organiser account stays until you ask for it to be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and we will do it. Email kogulan.baskaran@gmail.com. If you entered a tournament, the organiser who ran it also holds your entry, so you may want to ask them too.

Children

School tournaments mean under-18s are often entered, usually by a teacher or team captain rather than by the players themselves. Only enter someone else if you are entitled to do so. If a parent or guardian wants an entry removed, email us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. See also the terms of service.
